Feedback from Transition Cities Conference
- Political diversity at conf was much greater than in Sheff
- Diversity is inevitable
- Compulsory purchase to get land for growing
- Affiliation with existing groups
- Constellation workshop
- Big huge mountain to climb, change the stories we've been told, visioning
- Sense of other groups struggling, daunting challenge
- Like the open space, TT comes from a place of privilige rather than working class, maybe we should have a statement of aims, global context
- Sheffield needs an ongoing hub for training and development. We already have a good basis for that.
Nafeez Ahmed talk
Talk about peak oil, climate change and the big picture (after he finishes his Phd) Chris & steve will organise as sub group and others
Who we are
We should apply as a hub. Craig will apply tomorrow. We might want to define the way we work - consensus decision making etc. Use Haringey stuff or TT stuff as a basis. Agenda item for next meeting. Maybe we need a media sub group.
Transition Cities conf. in Sheffield
Gareth suggested Sheffield for next network conf. in April to Rob Hopkins. Involves setting up energy descent plan with host group. We think we won't be ready for this in time. Gareth will contact Rob Hopkins.
