This is somewhere to gather notes about the production of a business plan for the project.

Resources

Gareth, from CMS, has pointed out the following resources:

1. The Soil Association's an Excel spreadsheet for crop calculations, see also the documentation for using it.
2. A power point presentation which was made by Kirstin at a Making Local Food Work event late in 2009. There is no point in reinventing the wheel and I think this gives a good account of the various models.
3. A very detailed business plan document. Do not print it out as you will consume vast amounts of paper and ink. However, there is a useful framework (pages 74-6) and some of the questions raised might help you.

And he has suggested we need to consider:

• Market research/consultation with members/potential members/customers
• Growing rotas
• Selling to members/other
• Staffing
• Site development and capital investment
• Forecasting/budgeting/etc
