Having a street party is perhaps the single most effective way to get people in your neighbourhood talking to each other, and then diswcovering what they can do to make their neighbourhood a better place to live.

Setting up a street party can seem rather daunting at first, but just remember that lots of people have done this before, and are usually more than willing to offer help and guidance. Once you know just how fantastic it is to participate in a street party, you can't help but want to share it.

There is even a special website to tell you all about it: 'http://www.streetparty.org.uk'.

And the government wants you to do it well: 'http://www.communities.gov.uk/publications/communities/streetpartyguide'

Each local authority has it's own way of trying to be orgainised, and Sheffield is no exception. Here is a document you can use:Media:Street_party_guidelines_sheffield.pdf.
