From TransitionSheffield
- apologies from Heather
- Green New Deal report will be written up by Easter (on www.sheffieldnewgreendeal.org)
- We would like to get a hearts and minds groups going
- Outreach to young people needed - possibly doing screenings at university with People & Planet. Sheffield College, (Graham Wroe).
- Grow Sheffield. Make sure we've got them on our hub email list (Chris). Make sure we get their announcements as well.
- Jenny gave talk to Third Age group at Uni and has made some contacts.
- Nether Edge farmers market. Could do a stall. More creative and interactive than just an info stall.
- Also doing a stall at Sharrow Festival.
- Heeley/Meersbrook organising a CSA meeting (open to all) on 23rd April, Grapevine Centre, Northcote Ave, Time: tba.
- Heeley/Meersbrook pub night at the Sheaf
- Burngreave, fairly quiet. Recently hosted a low key food growing talk.
- Walkley Improvised feedback - group started, recent film show , make sure their on the hub list (Susannah).
- World Cafe - bit disappointing, not enough food, random people who wanted to know what Transition was.
- Funding through community assemblies - Jenny said there was £50,000 available in each of the Sheffield wards for community groups and we should tap into it.
- Voluntary, Community & Faith Environment Network is being launched on April 7th and this will go on the announcements list.
- Transition Towns AGM. We thought it was too expensive, only Craig is going & he got his ticket paid for by the Quakers.
- Strategic approach to the year
- this was such a big topic and the above took up most of the meeting we decided to dedicate the next meeting to just this. It will be held in a public space so able to have more people. We will invite Grow Sheffield and Transition Walkley.
- There was some debate about who should be included/invited to this. Should it be open to everyone or just the hub group & associates?
- From this we decided one thing we should do this year is to have a big open meeting open to anyone/everyone.
- We might also have another open meeting focusing on What Transition is since there seemed to be needed after the World Cafe event.
- The date for this Strategy for the Year is Monday April 27th, venue not yet decided.
- Date for next regular hub meeting is 11th May (day after Film afternoon).
Not discussed much—lack of time
- Monday meetings - new venue?
- Funding through community assemblies
- Training.
