Film screenings discussion 8th December 2009

1. Dates

In order to have time for publicity we disccussed starting some screening in the week starting 15th Feb 2009 and do a film a fortnight. Possible dates, venue availability and school holidays to be checked:

• Monday 16th or Tuesday 17th February, Common Ground, Nether Edge.
• Monday 9th or Tuesday 10th March, Meersbrook Pavilion or Heeley Institute.
• Monday 23rd or Tuesday 24th March, Common Ground, Nether Edge.
• Monday 6th or Tuesday 7th April, Meersbrook Pavilion or Heeley Institute.
• Monday 20th or Tuesday 21st April, Common Ground, Nether Edge.
• Monday 4th or Tuesday 5th May, Meersbrook Pavilion or Heeley Institute.
• Sunday 17th May, afternoon screening and discussion, Life at the End of Empire, Common Ground, Nether Edge.

2. Areas

Meersbrook and Nether Edge are two areas where we have the resources to put on more film screenings but we don't for other areas. However if some people from other parts of Sheffield would like to offer to help with aspects such as booking venues and distributing publicity then we could provide the sscreening equiptment and technical assistance.

4. Todo

Things to do before next get together:

• Get hold of films we haven't got and watch them all
• Venue availability
• Appeal on announcements list for help / other locations
• Contact People and Planet at the University about screeings there
• Draft flyer / posters etc
• Look into Sharrow venues and costs for 6th Jan funding bid (publicity, big venue such as the Abbeydale Picture House and costs of DVDs)
