Feedback from National conference:

Craig reported on national transition conference in Battersea. A powerful, engaging event highlighting impressive Transition activity around UK and other countries. Lack of diversity in movement was main problem of conference. How can we help address this in Sheffield?

Susannah doing presentation to Burngreave Community Action Forum about Transition.

Jenny teaching 'How your neighbourhood works' course at Al Medina community centre in Sharrow. May create opportunities for joint activities.

Links with City of Sanctuary (eg involving refugees from Gleadless in CSA project) Rob Unwin link with Asian community in Sharrow doing food growing Ronin link with SHINE Need to build up personal relationships and also have checklist for organising events/activities that includes involving minority communities (eg when planning conferences etc)

Feedback from Local Groups

Meersbrook Still working on CSA project. Also having meeting on home insulation on 30th June.

Nether Edge/Sharrow Another meal on 29th June at Common Ground with world cafe planning session for local project ideas. Done stalls and leaflet. Brainstormed list of projects and learning needs.

Burngreave Possible project with schools using land. Ideas for street parties. Doing presentation to BCAF.

Porter Valley Looking at a CSA, possibly at Whirlow Hall Farm. Planning film showings in Autumn.

Supporting new local groups

Need named hand-holder to communicate with each new group and offer support (technical etc.) Craig to be link with Porter Valley Susannah to be link with Walkley Do we need hub to have representatives from each local group & theme group? Some differences over this but may be desirable as long as hub doesn't get too large. Find a way for people from local groups to share experiences and communicate directly – eg alternate business and social/info sharing hub meetings Let's hold next hub meetings at Walkley/Crookes in July (not Encounters), and then Porter Valley. ACTION: Susannah to organise with Walkley group?

Heart & Soul groups

Heather, Michael Bailey, Jenny, Ronin have met to start a psychological/spiritual support interfaith group to be a resource for nourishing work and communication.

Food Conference

Vanessa from Grow Sheffield interested in being involved for October, with Gareth. Could produce report eg 'How will Sheffield feed itself in future?' ACTION: Chris to contact Vanessa & Gareth & suggest discussing at Eating Sustainably meeting on 23rd June.

Training

Contact Transition training about doing training weekend in Sheffield and open up to region if spaces available. ACTION: Jenny to contact transition training

Stalls

Suggest split income from stalls 50/50 with local group to help pay for materials and equipment. Seek feedback on this from groups.

Sheffield Live programme

ACTION: Steve to appeal for volunteers to make up team of presenters for a regular Transition programme.
