Introduction to Permaculture Courses in Sheffield

- Cost of Course
- Sliding scale £30 - £120 based on income and what you can afford. This is up to you. No less than £30 but you can pay more than £120.
- Deposit
- Minimum £10 deposit to confirm booking.

- Camping on the Land
- The courses will be taught on the Hazelhurst CSA land, which is a 9 acre field. The courses will be inclined towards the design of this land for the Community Supported Agriculture Project.
- Tents
- If you have your own tent please bring it, (although there probably will be some sleeping space available if you don’t have your own tent)
- You will need to bring
- Appropriate clothing, suitable for outdoors (Expect bad weather), boots or wellies, sleeping bag, sleeping mat , cutlery and plates Magazines, books or items of interest regarding Permaculture and sustainability. Enthusiasm, humour and an ‘open to learning’ attitude!
- Teaching
- will take place in a large marquee. There will be chairs and tables provided.
- Also bring
- notebook, pens, pencils, ruler, a clipboard and larger pad of paper for design drawings or laptops etc and perhaps comfortable cushions.
- Food
- There will be a well equipped kitchen cooking vegan meals. This will cost £10 for the weekend, for three meals a day. Any drinks or cakes you really like (we will supply tea, coffee, some herbal, and milk). If you wish to bring your own food and cooking kit your welcome to do so.
- Saturday Night Event
- Other ordinary members of the CSA will be coming out to camp on Saturday 17th July. This will be a fun night with a big camp fire and music, singing and performance. So practice your party piece.
- Learning objectives
- By the end of the weekend, participants should have an answer to the question 'What is Permaculture?' have gained an overview of the ethics and principles of Permaculture, and be able to begin to apply design techniques to the CSA land and other projects in their environment. Participants will also know where to find further information.
- Timetable
- The timetable varies depending on the group’s interests, skills and knowledge. We will start the day promptly and stick to timings.

- 10:15 House-garden relationships game (input out put analysis)
- 11:00 Break
- 11:30 Principles and ethics of Permaculture – illustrated talk and discussion
- 1:00 Lunch –time to browse library of Permaculture books and magazines
- 2:00 Observation walk / practical
- 3:30 Tea
- 4:00 Video(s)
- 5:00 Questions and Discussion
